In recognition of International Women's Day, this event highlights the voices of women survivors, scholars, and activists, demonstrating the capacity of women to overcome adversity and empower others in the face of genocidal violence.

Open to the public, this event will feature a panel discussion and reception. This event is co-sponsored by the Holocaust and the United Nations Outreach Programme.

Academy®-award winning producer (Schindler's List, Gladiator) and longtime USC Shoah Foundation Institute supporter, Branko Lustig, will introduce the screening of Gabor Kalman's documentary film There Was Once… at USC's School of Cinematic Arts.

IWitness, the Institute's new online educational application will be presented at the 2012 International Society for the Social Studies Annual Conference. Gayle Kolodny Cole, USC Shoah Foundation Institute Online educational Specialist, will present a 2-hour poster session entitled “IWitness Online Application: Using Holocaust Survivor Video Testimony to Make Meaning and Share Messages in a 21st Century Learning Environment.”

Beginning Friday, January 6, 2012, regional consultants from Central and Eastern Europe have been on the USC campus for a 10-day-long workshop at the Shoah Foundation Institute.
